Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Gets Its Dubs on 12 November. Sean Schemmel and Mario Castañeda Are Back as Goku
A month ago, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus had started in Japanese and no dub had a date. Now three do. Crunchyroll and Toei Animation say the English, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs start streaming on Thursday, 12 November, and the voices fans know from the original series are back as Goku, Vegeta, Beerus and Whis.

Crunchyroll will stream the three dubs exclusively from 8:00 a.m. Pacific time on 12 November, with new dubbed episodes every week after that. Noisy Pixel lists the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America as the territories covered.
When Voice Over Herald covered the launch on 12 October, the English cast had just stood on a New York Comic Con stage with nothing to announce, and FayerWayer was calling the Latin American Spanish dub “one of the points of greatest uncertainty among the fan community.” That uncertainty is over. Here’s who’s in the booth.

The same four voices, three times over
In English, Sean Schemmel returns as Son Goku and Christopher R. Sabat as Vegeta, with Jason Douglas as Beerus and Ian Sinclair as Whis. Anime News Network calls them the returning cast, and Douglas and Sinclair were the two who introduced the world premiere in New York.
In Latin American Spanish, it’s the line-up a generation grew up with. Mario Castañeda is Goku, René García is Vegeta, José Luis Orozco is Beerus, known to Spanish-speaking fans as Bills, and Arturo Castañeda is Whis. The Brazilian Portuguese dub brings back Wendel Bezerra as Goku, Alfredo Rollo as Vegeta, Marcelo Pissardini as Beerus and Felipe Grinan as Whis.

For the anime press in Latin America, the casting was the headline. “The wait is over for fans of the universe created by Akira Toriyama,” IGN Latinoamérica wrote, promising “the classic voices that marked entire generations.”
Hear the dub
Crunchyroll’s English dub trailer opens on Douglas’s Beerus, a few seconds in, and gives Schemmel’s Goku the big speech at the end.

Crunchyroll’s Spanish-language channel has a Latin American trailer too, where Castañeda’s Goku and Orozco’s Bills trade lines, and Crunchyroll Brasil has one in Portuguese.
What Beerus is, and why it needs actors again
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus isn’t a sequel. It’s a reworking of the original Dragon Ball Super television series, which ran from 2015 to 2018 across 131 episodes. Toei calls it “enhanced”: Anime News Network reports a reconstructed story, new and redrawn cuts and new visual effects, and the official announcement as ANN quotes it lists “newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects.” In Japanese, Masako Nozawa, who turned 90 in October, is still Goku, and Kōichi Yamadera is still Beerus.

The story starts a few years after the fight with Majin Buu. Beerus, the God of Destruction, wakes from a long sleep, hears that a Saiyan has beaten Frieza and goes looking for him. Earth, as usual, is in the way.
It premiered in Japan on Fuji TV on 11 October, and Crunchyroll has streamed it in Japanese with subtitles the same day ever since. Netflix carries it in some territories as well.

The question fans are still asking
What nobody has spelled out is how much of each dub is new. The edition re-edits and redraws a series that was dubbed years ago (Funimation’s English dub arrived in December 2016, according to Anime News Network), and none of the announcements Voice Over Herald read say whether the English, Spanish and Portuguese tracks were recorded from scratch or built partly from the old sessions.
The Mexican anime site Kudasai noticed the same gap. “There are still some doubts about how the dubbing of this edition has been handled,” it wrote. On YouTube, fans are already arguing about it, with at least one upload of the Latin American trailer titled “BUT NO REDUB” in capitals.
For the actors, the answer matters. A fresh recording is a fresh booking for dozens of performers in three languages. A re-cut of old sessions is not. We won’t guess, and we’ll report it when Crunchyroll or the dub studios say.
What to watch on the 12th
- The credits. The dubbed episodes should name the dub directors and studios for each language.
- The rest of the cast. Only Goku, Vegeta, Beerus and Whis are confirmed so far. Bulma, Krillin and the others haven’t been named.
- Netflix. Whether it adds dubbed tracks to its weekly episodes.
Crunchyroll LATAM summed up its own announcement in one line: “Dragon Ball Super: Beerus arrives in Spanish on Crunchyroll this 12 November!” For three dub casts who waited a month to hear it, that’s the line that counts.
