Eight Dates for Working Voice Actors Before December. One Conference Says Its Format Changes After This Year
From a free Spanish class on quoting commercials to a boutique conference in a Virginia hotel, here are the voice over dates worth a working actor’s diary between now and the end of November, checked against each organiser’s own page.
Autumn is busy for voice actors who like to get out of the booth. In the next six weeks there are two online sessions run by voice actor associations, two big fan conventions with voice actors signing all weekend, an awards night in Madrid for two dubbing veterans, a three-day dubbing and localisation conference in London, a narrative games convention with a talk on directing voice actors, and one conference built entirely for working voice talent.
Not all of them are for everyone. Some are about learning, some are about meeting the people who hire, and some are about watching how the best-known names in the business work a room. We’ve listed what each one is, who it’s for, what it costs where the organiser says so, and one reason a working voice actor might go.
First up, online: two association sessions
The National Association of Voice Actors lists two online events for the coming days on its event page. On Wednesday, October 21, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM Pacific, its Latin American sister group LAVA runs a Spanish-language class on how to quote a voice over commercial outside the United States. The ticket page says the class is free for NAVA and LAVA members, with donations welcome. If you work in Spanish for clients in Mexico, Colombia or Argentina and still price jobs by guesswork, that’s your reason to log on.
On Friday, October 23, at the same time, NAVA and SkillsHub.Life host “We are One Voiceover Community,” a panel with the presidents of four voice actor associations: Tim Friedlander of NAVA in the US, Memo Sauceda of LAVA, Emma O’Neill of CAVA in Canada and Simon Kennedy of AAVA in Australia. The organisers say it’s a conversation “about finding and doing work safely in 2026, no matter where you live,” covering AI, marketing and current events. Tickets are pay what you can, with a suggested price of $35, and the session is recorded for ticket holders. Why go: it’s the rare chance to hear four countries’ associations compare notes on AI in one hour.

London, Madrid and Los Angeles: fan floors and a gala
MCM Comic Con runs October 23 to 25 at ExCeL London. Its first announced guests are the cast of Critical Role, and MCM says the cast “will be available for photo ops and autographs for Friday and Saturday.” For a working voice actor the value isn’t the autograph. It’s watching how a cast of professional voice actors built an audience that follows them from show to show, and how they run a signing line.
In Madrid on Monday, October 26, the AISGE Foundation hands out its 18th Premios Actúa at the Nuevo Teatro Alcalá. The voice actor category goes to Marta Angelat, the Spanish voice of Emma Thompson and Anjelica Huston, and Luis Porcar, who dubbed George Clooney in ER and Hugh Laurie in House. AISGE’s announcement says dubbing “means performing, imitating and understanding the spirit of a character, using only the voice as a tool.” It’s the moment Spain’s performers’ rights body puts two dubbing careers on the same stage as screen and theatre actors.

Los Angeles Comic Con follows from October 30 to November 1 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Its guest page lists four Futurama voices, John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche and Phil LaMarr, all appearing Saturday and Sunday in Kentia Hall, plus Critical Role’s Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel and Taliesin Jaffe in West Hall all three days. The site sells single day, weekend and VIP passes, with prices behind its ticket link. Why go: four actors from one of animation’s longest-running casts, in one hall, on the same two days.

November in London: dubbing experts and narrative games
Languages & The Media, which University College London calls “the world’s leading international conference on language transfer in audiovisual media,” holds its 16th edition from November 4 to 6 at Senate House, University of London, under the theme “Moving Images That Move Audiences: Localising with Intent.” UCL’s event page says the programme covers dubbing, subtitling, audio description and videogame localisation, and asks “What role should human expertise play alongside emerging technologies?” The UCL listing gives a cost of £85, with other ticket types on the organisers’ registration site. Why go: the people who commission dubbed and localised versions will be in the room, and dubbing actors rarely get to hear how they think.

AdventureX, which describes itself as “the UK’s only convention dedicated to narrative-driven gaming,” runs November 7 and 8 at the LSBU Hub building in south London. On Sunday at 10:45, Sally Beaumont gives a talk called “The Nine Verbs of Voice Acting: how to direct a Human Doing,” according to the convention’s schedule. The ticket page says evening afterparties are included for every ticket holder and children under 12 get in free. Why go: indie game writers and small studios are the people casting narrative games, and this is where they spend a weekend.

Herndon, Virginia: the one built for voice actors
The Mid-Atlantic Voiceover Conference, MAVO2026, runs November 13 to 15 at the Westin Dulles Hotel in Herndon, Virginia. A general admission ticket costs $675 and, according to the MAVO site, covers all general sessions, panels and socials, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and two breakout sessions. Extra breakouts are $40 each and capped at 12 to 15 people. A cheaper “No frills” ticket drops lunch and the breakouts. Mastery sessions are limited to 12 attendees, and day passes may only appear closer to the date.

This is MAVO’s 11th annual conference, and Lori Alan gives the keynote. The hotel block rate of $109 a night ends on October 23, and the site said that as of August 31 the event was already at 60 percent capacity. Organiser Val Kelly also gives a reason not to wait a year: “Our format for events will change after 2026.”
Why go: it’s the only event on this list where every session is about the job itself, in groups small enough that a coach hears your read. Past attendees on the site describe classes in dubbing and puppetry they’d never tried before, which is the point of a weekend like this.
- Check the deadline, not just the date. MAVO’s hotel rate ends October 23, three weeks before the conference.
- Online counts. NAVA’s October 23 panel is recorded for ticket holders, so the time zone needn’t stop you.
- Fan conventions sell faces, not jobs. Go to MCM or LA Comic Con to study how working actors meet an audience, not to hand out demos.
- Follow the people who hire. Languages & The Media and AdventureX put dubbing buyers and game writers in one building.
What didn’t make the list, and what’s next
A few dates circulating in event roundups didn’t hold up. The Actors Pro Expo site lists its next edition in London on February 27, 2027, and shows no New York date this autumn, so we’ve left it out. We also couldn’t confirm a voice-specific union event from Equity, SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA or MEAA in this window, so check your own union’s local listings.

Looking further ahead, VO Atlanta has announced its next conference for March 18 to 21, 2027, at the Hilton Atlanta Airport, with general admission at $597 refundable or $547 non-refundable. If you’re planning next year’s spend, that’s the next big date to circle.
