Naruto Shippuden Hits Episode 220 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. India’s Fans Already Want the Rest
Crunchyroll has finished its summer run of Naruto Shippūden dubs for India. Episodes 197 to 220 arrived on Monday in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English, completing a plan that started on July 6. The fans who’ve been in the comments since day one have already moved on to their next question: where are episodes 221 to 500?
It’s been a busy week for anime in Indian languages. Muse India put a Hindi dub of The God of High School on YouTube, Ani-One Asia opened all three seasons of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU to Indian viewers, and Crunchyroll’s Fall lineup for India lists at least ten shows in Hindi, Tamil or Telugu. Behind every one of those dubs is a booth full of Indian voice actors, and a fan base that knows their names.
- The news. Crunchyroll added episodes 197 to 220 of Naruto Shippūden in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English on Monday, September 28.
- The plan is done. The rollout promised the first 220 episodes in batches from July through September, and it delivered on schedule.
- Same voices as TV. The dubs are the ones Sony YAY! aired from 2024, so Hindi viewers hear Pooja Punjabi as Naruto.
- The ask. Fans in the comments want episodes 221 to 500, more Tamil and Telugu, and dubs made with care.
Episode 220, right on time
Anime News Network reported the new batch on Tuesday. Crunchyroll released the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubs on July 6 “with plans to roll out additional batches of dubbed episodes through September 2026,” the outlet wrote. Episodes 113 to 175 followed on August 17 and episodes 176 to 196 on September 7. Crunchyroll now streams 17 seasons of Naruto Shippūden in India.
Anime Mirchi, the Indian anime site where researcher Mirchi Seth documents anime in India, has tracked every drop. Its schedule shows episodes 1 to 32 on July 6, 33 to 71 on July 20, 72 to 112 on August 3, and the final arc, The Assembly of the Five Kage, landing on September 28 at 7:00 AM India time.
That’s six release dates in twelve weeks. The biggest single drop was August 17, when 63 episodes arrived at once. The smallest was September 7, with 21.
The Hindi dub is exclusive to Crunchyroll, the platform said when it announced the rollout. The English dub came along for the ride from the August batch onward, according to Anime News Network’s reports.
“Believe it” in three languages
Crunchyroll India announced the plan on Instagram on July 2 with a line every Naruto fan knows: “The future Hokage arrives in 3 new languages. Believe it!”
The comments filled up fast, and they split along language lines. “Naruto shippuden Telugu dub>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>,” wrote @shoyoo.hinata10. “Thankyou for tamil dubbed,” wrote @sanmugarajan_2000. @sjk.editz.ae added “Thank you for Telugu dub,” and @aman_amv summed up years of waiting in two words: “Finally Dattebayo.”
The post says the dubbed episodes would “release in batches starting July 6 through September.” Twelve weeks later, it has.
Not everyone waited for the finish line to ask about the next one. “Please continue the Telugu dub from Episode 221 to Episode 500 on the Crunchyroll app,” wrote @siddukumar._ under the same post. “We want to watch all the remaining episodes in Telugu on our phones. Many Telugu Naruto fans are waiting.”
On a fan page’s post about the rollout, @_karthikk27 asked a week ago: “When 220-500 will come in telugu.” @nik___o1 asked the same thing in Hindi: “When will the rest come, 221 to 500?”
The voice fans won’t let go of
These aren’t new dubs. Anime Mirchi reports that Crunchyroll is using the same Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions that aired on the Sony YAY! TV channel, which started Naruto Shippūden in March 2024 and reached episode 360 by January 2026. The TV run also had Malayalam and Bengali dubs, which aren’t part of the streaming release.

Her Instagram bio calls her a “Voice Artiste & Founder of Potbelly Audio.” When Sony YAY! brought the show back in 2024, she announced it herself: “Here’s putting an end to countless questions that have FLOODED my DMs. He is BACK! & So am I.”
“We could only feature a few screenshots out of thousands of DMs received,” she added. Her fans haven’t gone quiet since. Under a Hindi dub clip shared by the page @voicebehindindia in August, @swetahari36 wrote: “Only your voice suits Naruto… your voice makes him more adorable.” @sunbaked_lotus_19 went further, in Hindi: “I can’t even imagine Naruto in anyone’s voice except Pooja Punjabi ma’am’s.”
On a photo she posted last week, @youramirhussein called her “didi,” a warm Hindi word for an older sister, and asked: “Puja didi, just tell us when the new Naruto Shippuden episodes are coming. It’s been almost a year. Tell us now.”
That’s the thing about a long-running dub. The actor who voices the lead becomes the person fans ask about the whole show.
Fans are asking for quality, not just more
Scroll Crunchyroll India’s other posts and the requests get specific. Under its October dub lineup, @naah_its_liege asked the platform to “not compromise on the Hindi voice cast, dialogue adaptation, voice direction, or overall dubbing quality” for Black Clover.
@mr._.v_e_e_r_ asked for The Apothecary Diaries to get a strong Hindi dub: “Indian anime fans are eager for top-notch dubbing, so we humbly request assigning major upcoming titles like this to established Mumbai-based studios.”
Then there’s @subhajit__26, who’s been posting a daily countdown. The latest: “Day -80 My teen romantic comedy snafu Hind dubbed plzzzzz.” Ani-One Asia’s YouTube release of SNAFU in India, reported this week, makes no mention of a Hindi dub, so that request is still open.
For working voice actors, those comments read like a job description. Indian fans name the studios, the directors and the cast, and they notice when a voice changes.
What the boom means for India’s voice actors
More dubs should mean more sessions. But the people doing the work have been warning about what else is changing. In April, Ganessh Divekar, general secretary of the Association of Voice Artists of India and the Hindi voice of Pedro Pascal in Marvel films, told Rest of World that commercials, documentaries and audiobook work “are being annihilated by AI.”
He said the association now tells members to ask what a recording will be used for, “and ask for more money when signing perpetuity contracts, because the voice becomes their property in perpetuity and they can do anything with it, including train AI.”
Anime is where fans are loudest about wanting human performances. The Naruto fans quoted above don’t want just any Hindi voice. They want Pooja Punjabi’s.
What happens next
Crunchyroll hasn’t said whether episodes 221 onward will follow. Sony YAY! has already aired its dubs up to episode 360, so the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu tracks for the next arcs exist. Naruto news is also coming from elsewhere: Viz Media says a new limited TV anime series will be detailed at New York Comic Con on October 10.
Closer to home, Crunchyroll India says it’ll be at Mela! Mela! Anime Japan at Pacific Mall Tagore Garden in New Delhi on October 3 and 4. Expect the 221 question to come up.
